Located near the bottom end of the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar on Chang Khlan Road, the Anusarn Market holds its own very special charm. It is open till midnight, every night of the week, the same as the Night Bazaar.
During the day time the Anusarn Market area is devoid of any vendor stalls, however all the permanent shops, bars and eateries around the inside walls of the market area are still open for business. The back of the market area is used in the daytime to store a good number of the metal mobile stalls that are used nightly all along the main Night Bazaar. After the mobile vendor stalls are moved out each afternoon the Anusarn Market vendors move in, erect their large tent type stalls and start to operate.
Anusarn Market is where you can enjoy low cost wonderful meals of many different varieties. Besides Thai Food you will also find Asian, Seafood and Indian at several large open diners. Highly recommended for quality service and meals are Best Taste Kitchen, Ping Ping Restaurant and the Sea Food Restaurant. For those feeling homesick you can slip into somewhere like O'Mally's Irish Pub for a roast dinner or an Irish stew with a pint of Guinness; or just grab a burger from the burger shop.
There are several excellent Thai massage studios that can treat between 10 and 20 customers at a time. After days of walking around sightseeing you will be glad you came here to sit in a comfortable leather recliner armchair, put your feet up and spend around 100THB for 1/2 hour or around 160THB for a 1 hour foot, leg, neck and or back massage. A traditional Thai massage is just the thing to make you feel 100% and ready to do some more exploring. You can even try out the new "fish massage". Let the little fishies eat all the dead skin off the bottom of your feet for the refreshing feel of clean skin.
Along with the massage studios and tasty food spots there are heaps of undercover vendor stalls and shops selling clothing, shoes, lighting, music, handicrafts, gifts and souvenirs. Remember to bargain for your purchases.
Anusarn Market is a great little spot to have a rest or a bite to eat and put the feet up for a while to escape the hustle and bustle of the Night Bazaar.
If you have time you should also take a stroll up through the Night Bazaar and have a look at the Kalare Markets, another great little spot away from the main traffic.
